Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that on the day of Badr the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One in whose Hand is my soul, if a child were born with the understanding that a religious person has at the age of forty, and he kept doing acts of obedience to Allah Almighty and kept avoiding every act of disobedience to Allah Almighty until he reached the most decrepit age (or the narrator is unsure and the words may be:) until he reached the age when, after having knowledge, he no longer knows anything, even then that person (despite so much worship) would not attain (the reward of) this night of any one of you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The angels who took part in Badr have superiority over those angels who did not take part in it." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Another hadith from this Companion about the virtue of the people of Badr is reported, which Ibn Majah recorded, and it is other than this narration.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Ja'far bin Miqlas, whom I do not know, and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man from the Ansar became blind, and he sent word to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asking him to mark out a place in his house as a mosque for him, so that he could pray there. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came, and the man's people gathered around him. One man was absent, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What has become of so-and-so?" Someone among those present mentioned him (in a negative way). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Did he not take part in the Battle of Badr?" They said: "Yes! But he has such-and-such (a fault)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perhaps Allah Almighty looked upon the people of Badr and said: 'Do whatever you wish! I have forgiven you.'" (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah have recorded part of this narration.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is good (jayyid).
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I hope that, if Allah wills, no one who took part in the Battle of Badr will enter Hell."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Other hadiths of this kind about the virtue of the people of Badr and others will come later, in the chapter on the virtues of Sayyiduna Hatib (may Allah be pleased with him) and others, if Allah wills.
Sayyiduna Rifa'ah bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard my father say: Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever among the angels took part in the Battle of Badr has superiority over us." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
This narration is in the "Sahih" from Sayyiduna Rifa'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) himself, while here it is narrated from his father.
Al-Tabarani recorded it as a narration of Yahya bin Sa'id from Sayyiduna Rifa'ah (may Allah be pleased with him), although Yahya did not meet anyone of those who took part in Badr. And Allah knows best.
