بَابُ إِكْرَامِ السُّلْطَانِ .

عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " مَنْ أَكْرَمَ سُلْطَانَ اللَّهِ - تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى - فِي الدُّنْيَا أَكْرَمَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَمَنْ أَهَانَ سُلْطَانَ اللَّهِ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - فِي الدُّنْيَا أَهَانَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
قُلْتُ : رَوَى التِّرْمِذِيُّ مِنْهُ : " مَنْ أَهَانَ " دُونَ : " مَنْ أَكْرَمَ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ بِاخْتِصَارٍ وَزَادَ فِي أَوَّلِهِ : " الْإِمَامُ ظِلُّ اللَّهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ " . وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ ثِقَاتٌ .
قُلْتُ : رَوَى التِّرْمِذِيُّ مِنْهُ : " مَنْ أَهَانَ " دُونَ : " مَنْ أَكْرَمَ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ بِاخْتِصَارٍ وَزَادَ فِي أَوَّلِهِ : " الْإِمَامُ ظِلُّ اللَّهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ " . وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever honours the authority of Allah in this world, Allah Almighty will honour him on the Day of Resurrection; and whoever disgraces the authority appointed by Allah in this world, Allah Almighty will disgrace him on the Day of Resurrection." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Al-Tirmidhi recorded it, but he recorded only the part about disgracing from it, not the part about honouring.
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it in abridged form; at its beginning he recorded the words: "The ruler is the shade of Allah on earth." The narrators of Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy).
Al-Tirmidhi recorded it, but he recorded only the part about disgracing from it, not the part about honouring.

وَعَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ مِنْ إِكْرَامِ جَلَالِ اللَّهِ إِكْرَامُ ذِي الشَّيْبَةِ الْمُسْلِمِ ، وَالْإِمَامِ الْعَادِلِ ، وَحَامِلِ الْقُرْآنِ لَا يَغْلُو فِيهِ، وَلَا يَجْفُو عَنْهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَوْنِ ، وَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ وَدُحَيْمٌ ، وَضَعَّفَهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ وَغَيْرُهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Part of honouring the majesty of Allah Almighty is to honour the grey-haired Muslim, the just ruler, and the bearer of the Qur'an who neither goes to extremes in it nor turns away from it (that is, neither neglects it)."

وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ : خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ : " أَلَا إِنِّي أُوشِكُ أَنْ أُدْعَى فَأُجِيبُ فَيَلِيَكُمْ عُمَّالٌ مِنْ بَعْدِي يَعْمَلُونَ مَا تَعْمَلُونَ وَيَعْمَلُونَ مَا تَعْرِفُونَ وَطَاعَةُ أُولَئِكَ طَاعَةٌ " .
قُلْتُ : فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَهُوَ بِتَمَامِهِ فِي أَئِمَّةِ الْجَوْرِ .

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us, and in his sermon he said to us: "Soon I will be called and I will respond. After me, officials will be over you who will do what you do and will do what you recognise as good; obedience to them is true obedience." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Then he mentioned the full hadith; the complete narration is in the chapter on unjust rulers.

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ لِي عَلَيْكُمْ حَقًّا ، وَلِلْأَئِمَّةِ عَلَيْكُمْ حَقًّا ، مَا قَامُوا ثَلَاثًا : إِذَا اسْتُرْحِمُوا رَحِمُوا ، وَإِذَا حَكَمُوا عَدَلُوا ، وَإِذَا عَاهَدُوا أَوْفُوا ، فَمَنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُمْ فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ لَا يُقْبَلُ مِنْهُمْ صَرْفٌ وَلَا عَدْلٌ " .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have a right over you, and the rulers also have a right over you, as long as they uphold three things: when mercy is sought from them, they show mercy; when they judge, they act justly; and when they make a covenant, they fulfil it. Whoever of them does not do so, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels and all mankind. No voluntary or obligatory act of worship will be accepted from such people."

عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ قَوْمٍ مَشَوْا إِلَى سُلْطَانِ اللَّهِ لِيُذِلُّوهُ إِلَّا أَذَلَّهُمُ اللَّهُ قَبْلَ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ خَلَا كَثِيرَ بْنَ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ التَّيْمِيَّ ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ .
قُلْتُ : وَتَأْتِي أَحَادِيثُ كَثِيرَةٌ فِي السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ خَلَا كَثِيرَ بْنَ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ التَّيْمِيَّ ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ .
قُلْتُ : وَتَأْتِي أَحَادِيثُ كَثِيرَةٌ فِي السَّمْعِ وَالطَّاعَةِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whenever a people walk to the ruler appointed by Allah Almighty in order to humiliate him, Allah Almighty will humiliate them before the Day of Resurrection."
Al-Bazzar recorded it. Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Kathir bin Abi Kathir al-Taymi, who is thiqah (trustworthy).
