بَابُ الْغَضِّ عَنِ الرَّعِيَّةِ ، وَعَنْ تَتَبُّعِ عَوْرَاتِهِمْ .

عَنِ الْمِقْدَادِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ ، وَأَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَا : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ الْأَمِيرَ إِذَا ابْتَغَى الرِّيبَةَ فِي النَّاسِ أَفْسَدَهُمْ " .
قُلْتُ : حَدِيثُ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
قُلْتُ : حَدِيثُ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ .

Sayyiduna al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a ruler seeks out suspicion among the people (that is, hidden matters), he corrupts them." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The hadith narrated by Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) was recorded by Abu Dawud.

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَا وَلِيَ أَحَدٌ وِلَايَةً إِلَّا بُسِطَتْ لَهُ الْعَافِيَةُ ، فَإِنْ قَبِلَهَا بُسِطَتْ لَهُ وَتَمَّتْ لَهُ ، وَإِنْ حَفَزَ عَنْهَا فُتِحَ لَهُ مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَهُ بِهِ " .
قُلْتُ : لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : مَا حَفَزَ عَنْهَا ؟ قَالَ : تَطْلُبُ الْعَثَرَاتِ وَالْعَوْرَاتِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .
قُلْتُ : لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : مَا حَفَزَ عَنْهَا ؟ قَالَ : تَطْلُبُ الْعَثَرَاتِ وَالْعَوْرَاتِ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that whoever is put in charge of an office, well-being is spread out for him; if he accepts it, it will be spread out for him and completed for him, but if he pushes it away, there will be opened up for him what he has no strength to bear. The narrator says: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): "What does the phrase 'hafaza 'anha' mean?" He said: "That he investigates their slips and their hidden matters."
