Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the home of Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her). There was a child there whose nostrils were bleeding. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What has happened to him? The people said that he had a throat ailment. Here Abu Mu'awiyah recorded these words in his narration: With her was a child whose nostrils were bleeding. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What is the cause of this? The people said that he had a throat ailment. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Why do you torment your children? It is enough for any one of you to take Indian costus (qust hindi), mix it with seven dates and give it to him. Ibn Abi Utbah says: Then put it into his nose. They did so, and the child recovered.
Ahmad, Abu Ya'la and al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyidah Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) relates: A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and with her was a child whose nostrils were bleeding. The narrator relates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Why do you distress your children? Why does a woman not take sea costus (qust bahri) and then put it into his nose? For in it there is a cure with respect to seven remedies (or: a cure for seven diseases), one of which is pleurisy (dhat al-janb)."
Al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains al-Mas'udi, who is thiqah (trustworthy) but suffered from confusion in his memory. The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
