عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَخَذَ كِسْرَةً مِنْ خُبْزِ شَعِيرٍ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ تَمْرَةً فَوَضَعَهَا عَلَيْهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ : " هَذِهِ إِدَامُ هَذِهِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَفِيهِ يَحْيَى بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): he took a piece of barley bread, then he took a date and placed it on it, and he said: "This is its condiment."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Yahya bin al-Ala', and he is da'if (weak).

وَعَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَأْكُلُ الْخُبْزَ بِالتَّمْرِ وَيَقُولُ : " هَذَا إِدَامُ هَذَا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would eat bread with dates and would say: "This is its condiment."

وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " يَا عَائِشَةُ هَذَا إِدَامُ هَذَا " يَعْنِي التَّمْرَ وَالْخُبْزَ .

Sayyidah Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "O Aishah! This is its condiment." (The narrator says: that is, he said this about dates and bread.)
