Abu Amr al-Shaybani states: A man asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): "A man divorces his wife before the consummation of the marriage; may he marry that woman's daughter?" He replied: "Yes." That man married such a woman, and the woman bore him a child. Then he (that is, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him)) came to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him about this issue. He said: "Separate this husband and wife!" Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "But this woman has already borne a child." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Even if she has borne ten children, separate the two of them all the same."

One narration has these words: Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) used to permit sarf (currency exchange), and he used to permit that if a man married a woman and she died before the consummation of the marriage, the man could marry her mother. After this he mentioned the narration as before.
Al-Tabarani recorded it with several chains, the narrators of some of which are the narrators of the Sahih.
