It is reported about Sayyiduna Adi (may Allah be pleased with him) that he had two wives, and he threw a stone at one of them and killed her. He rode to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this matter while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was at Tabuk, and asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the case of the slain woman. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He will pay her blood money, but he will not inherit from her. Sayyiduna Adi (may Allah be pleased with him) says: It is as if I can still see the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) upon a red camel with a cropped ear. He said: O people, hands are of three kinds: the hand of Allah Almighty is the uppermost, the hand of the giver is the middle one, and the hand of the one who asks is the lowest. So refrain from begging, even by gathering bundles of firewood (strive to avoid begging). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised both his hands and said: O Allah, have I conveyed (the message)?
Abu Ya'la recorded it in full and al-Tabarani in abridged form; its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that it contains a narrator who is not named.

Sayyiduna Umar bin Shaybah bin Abi Kabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was playing with my wife, and my hand struck her and she died. This was during the Expedition of Tabuk of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I came to him and told him about the situation of my wife, whom I had killed by mistake. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will not inherit from her."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and Abu Hatim said about Sayyiduna Umar bin Shaybah (may Allah be pleased with him): he is majhul (unknown).
