It is reported about Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that he asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): How is the grandfather's share to be determined? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Umar, why do you ask this question? I think that you will die before you come to know about it (that is, you will never get the answer to it. The narrator says:) And he passed away before gaining knowledge of it.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that there is a difference of opinion about whether Sa'id bin al-Musayyab heard from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says: In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we used to make him an heir. (The narrator says:) He meant the grandfather.
Abu Ya'la and al-Bazzar recorded it, and the narrators of Abu Ya'la are the narrators of the Sahih.

Hadith Takhrij«اخرجه البزار فى المسند (1387) اخرجه ابو يعلى فى المسند (1095)»
Sayyiduna Ubadah bin al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Among the rulings of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is that he ruled, regarding two grandmothers in inheritance, that the one-sixth would be divided between the two of them.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and Ahmad recorded it within a long hadith. The chains of both are munqati' (broken): the narrator Ishaq bin Yahya did not hear from Sayyiduna Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him).
