Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was wounded, I was the first person to come. He said: Remember three things from me, for I fear that the people will not be able to reach me. The first is that I have not given any ruling about kalalah, I am not appointing anyone as caliph over the people, and every slave of his shall be counted free.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about kalalah, and he said: The verse of the summer is sufficient for you.
Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Hajjaj bin Artah, and he is a mudallis (one who practises tadlis).

Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) says: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him about "kalalah". He said: O Messenger of Allah, tell me, does a man's "kalalah" mean that he has brothers from his mother's and father's side? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him no answer; he only recited to him the verse about "kalalah" that is in Surah al-Nisa'. The man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) again, and each time he asked, he recited the verse to him, until the man had asked him a great deal and pressed ever harder, so much so that his insistence grew intense, for he was very eager that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) should explain it to him. But the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) only recited the verse to him. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "By Allah, I will not tell you more than what I have been given. By Allah, I will not tell you more than what I have been given, until I am given more knowledge about it." At that, the man sat down and fell silent.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and there is weakness in its chain.
