Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reports about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he forbade the price of a dog, and he said: "It is the earning of the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance)." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
This narration is mentioned in the "Sahih", but without these words: "the earning of the Jahiliyyah."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the price of a dog and the earnings of a prostitute.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Dirar bin Surad Abu Nu'aym, and he is extremely da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the price of dogs, and he said: "It is the earning of the people of the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance); Allah Almighty has made (you) free of need for it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir as a narration of Ishaq bin Yahya from Sayyiduna Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him), although the narrator Ishaq did not live in his time.

Sayyidah Maymunah bint Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that she submitted: "O Messenger of Allah! Tell us the ruling concerning dogs." He said: "It is an earning of the Days of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah), and Allah Almighty has made (you) free of need of it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain is da'if (weak), and its chain contains a narrator who is not known.
