Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade a man to send a marriage proposal over his brother's proposal, or to make a sale over his brother's sale.
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains Imran bin Dawar al-Qattan, whom Abu Hatim and Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy), while Abu Dawud and others declared him da'if (weak). The rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Zayd bin Aslam narrates: I heard a man asking Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the auction sale (bay' al-muzayadah). Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade any of you to make a sale over his brother's sale, except in the case of war booty and inheritances. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
This narration is mentioned in the "Sahih", but without these words: "except in the case of war booty and inheritances."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded it; its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, whose hadith is hasan (good), and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you should ever make a sale over his brother's sale, nor send a marriage proposal over his proposal."
Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains Bishr bin al-Husayn, and he is a kadhdhab (liar).

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates about a man from the Ansar: He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and complained to him of being in need. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you have anything?" So he brought him a saddle-blanket and a cup. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who will buy this?" A man said: "I will take the two of them for one dirham." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who will give more than one dirham?" The people remained silent. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who will give more?" A man said: "I will take the two of them for two dirhams." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They are yours." Then he said: "Begging is lawful only for one of three: (one burdened with) blood money that causes pain (that is, the blood money of a killing must be paid), a debt that is crushing, or poverty that brings one down to the dust." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Abu Dawud and others recorded it from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) from a man.
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tirmidhi declared its chain hasan (good).

Sayyiduna Sufyan bin Wahb (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade "muzayadah" (that is, buying something by raising the bid).
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its chain is hasan (good).
