Sayyiduna Abu Zuhayr al-Numayri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not kill locusts, for they are the great army of Allah Almighty."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Muhammad bin Isma'il bin Ayyash, who is da'if (weak).
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We took part in a military expedition with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). We came upon locusts, and we ate them.
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains Jabir al-Ju'fi, whom the majority declared da'if (weak).
Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Sayyidah Maryam asked her Lord for meat that had no blood in it, so the Lord gave her locusts to eat. Sayyidah Maryam (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "O Allah, keep it alive without suckling, and continue their line without mating."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Baqiyyah, who is thiqah (trustworthy) but a mudallis (one who conceals defects in the chain), and a narrator Yazid al-Ayni, whom I do not know; the remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
Ali bin Abdullah al-Bariqi narrates: A woman in Makkah asked me for a ruling, and I said: "Here is Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both); go to him and ask him for the ruling." She went towards him, and I followed the woman so that I could hear what she would say. The woman said: "O Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), tell me the ruling about locusts." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "All of it is lawfully slaughtered (pure)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
