Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade flicking pebbles (khadhf). A cousin of his took a pebble and said: Is this what he forbade? Then he flicked the pebble. Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do I not see that I told you from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade it, and still you flicked the pebble? By Allah, as long as I live I will not speak a word with you (here the narrator is unsure; perhaps the wording here differs, but the meaning is the same). In one narration it is: It is decided that I will never speak with you.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that the narrator named Thabit did not hear from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him). And Allah knows best.

Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him), or perhaps Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Beware of flicking pebbles, for it breaks a tooth or gouges out an eye, and it does not harm the enemy." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: This report is recorded in the "Sahih" as a hadith narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, al-Hasan bin Dinar, and he is da'if (weak).
