Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Allah Almighty has made His sanctuary (Haram) sacred until the Day of Resurrection. Its trees are not to be cut, its grass is not to be uprooted, and the things dropped in it are not to be picked up, except that they may be picked up in order to announce them."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Isa bin Abi Isa al-Hannat, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Makkah was made lawful for me for one hour of a day, and it will not be lawful for anyone after me. It is sacred, by the sanctity ordained by Allah Almighty, until the Day of Resurrection. Its trees are not to be cut, its plants are not to be uprooted, its game is not to be startled, and the things dropped in it are not to be picked up, except that this may be done in order to announce them." The people said: "The ruling for idhkhir (a fragrant grass) should be different, because our smiths use it and it is used in our houses." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Idhkhir is an exception (that is, it may be cut)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin al-Qasim, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed Allah Almighty made this House sacred on the day He created the heavens and the earth, and He fashioned it when He fashioned the sun and the moon. The whole portion of the sky above it is sacred. It will not be lawful for anyone after me; it was made lawful for me only for one hour of a day, then it returned to what it was (inviolable)." It was said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) is killing people." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O so-and-so, get up, go to Khalid bin al-Walid and tell him to withhold his hand from killing." The man went to him and said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: Kill whomever you are able to overpower." So Sayyiduna Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) killed seventy people. Then a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and described the situation to him, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for Sayyiduna Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "Did I not forbid you from killing?" He said: "So-and-so came to me and told me to kill whomever I could overpower." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for that other man and said: "Did I not order that Khalid should not kill anyone?" The man said: "You intended one thing and Allah Almighty intended another, and the command of Allah Almighty is above your command. I was not able to do anything other than what happened." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fell silent towards him and did not give him any reply. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Another hadith from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) is reported in the "Sahih", different from this narration.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, whose memory became confused (ikhtilat).

Sayyiduna Muti' bin al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him), whose name was formerly al-As (the disobedient) and whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) named Muti' (the obedient), narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when he ordered those people in Makkah to be killed, say: "After this year there will never again be fighting in Makkah."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
