بَابٌ فِي قَضَاءِ الْفَائِتِ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ .

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ أَدْرَكَ رَمَضَانَ وَعَلَيْهِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ شَيْءٌ لَمْ يَقْضِهِ لَمْ يُتَقَبَّلْ مِنْهُ ، وَمَنْ صَامَ تَطَوُّعًا وَعَلَيْهِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ شَيْءٌ لَمْ يَقْضِهِ ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يُتَقَبَّلُ مِنْهُ حَتَّى يَصُومَهُ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ بِاخْتِصَارٍ ، وَهُوَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever reaches the month of Ramadan while he still owes something from another Ramadan which he has not made up, (the present Ramadan) will not be accepted from him. And whoever keeps a voluntary fast while he owes something of Ramadan which he has not made up, (the voluntary fast) will not be accepted from him until he keeps that (missed Ramadan) fast."
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat in abridged form, and its chain is hasan (good).

وَعَنْ عُمَرَ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا فَاتَهُ شَيْءٌ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ قَضَاهُ فِي عَشْرِ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ .

Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) missed something of Ramadan, he would make it up in the (first) ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah.

وَفِي رِوَايَةِ الْأَوْسَطِ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَرَى بَأْسًا بِقَضَاءِ رَمَضَانَ فِي عَشْرِ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ .
وَفِي إِسْنَادِ الْأَوَّلِ وَهَذَا أَيْضًا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الصِّينِيُّ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

In a narration of al-Mu'jam al-Awsat the words are: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw no harm in making up (missed fasts of) Ramadan in the (first) ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah. The chain of the first narration, and of this one too, contains Ibrahim bin Ishaq al-Sini, who is da'if (weak).
وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ مَاتَ وَعَلَيْهِ صِيَامٌ فَلْيَصُمْ عَنْهُ وَلِيُّهُ إِنْ شَاءَ " .
قُلْتُ : هُوَ فِي الصَّحِيحِ خَلَا قَوْلِهِ : " إِنْ شَاءَ " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .
قُلْتُ : هُوَ فِي الصَّحِيحِ خَلَا قَوْلِهِ : " إِنْ شَاءَ " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever dies while owing fasts, if his guardian wishes, let him fast on his behalf." (Allamah Haythami says:) I say:
