Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The likeness of the believer is like an ear (of crops), which sometimes bends and sometimes straightens. And the likeness of the disbeliever is like the pine tree, which always remains upright until it falls all at once, and it does not even realise it."
Ahmad recorded it. Its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, and there is criticism (kalam) regarding him.
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
