Ammar bin Abi Ammar, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrates: Once he passed by Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was at "the canal of Umm Abdullah", pouring water over his boys and his slaves. Ammar said to him: "O Abu Sa'id! Today is Jumu'ah." Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) replied to him: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When heavy rain is falling, a man should pray at his dwelling."
Abdullah recorded it from his father (Imam Ahmad) by way of wijadah (a found written record); its chain contains a narrator, Nasih bin al-Ala', whom Yahya bin Ma'in, and Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) according to one report, declared da'if (weak). He mentioned this hadith in connection with him and stated that no hadith other than this one is narrated through him. This person is thiqah (trustworthy); Imam Abu Dawud declared him thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Our Eid used to be only in the early part of the day. I remember about us only that we used to offer Jumu'ah behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the shade of the Hatim.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and the narrator Abu Ubaydah did not hear from his father.
