عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ غُطَيْفٍ - أَوْ غُطَيْفِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ - قَالَ : مَا نَسِيتُ مِنَ الْأَشْيَاءِ لَمْ أَنْسَ أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَاضِعًا يَمِينَهُ عَلَى شِمَالِهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna al-Harith bin Ghutayf (may Allah be pleased with him) (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) Sayyiduna Ghutayf bin al-Harith narrates: There are some things I have not forgotten, and I have not forgotten that I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placing his right hand over his left hand during prayer.

وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ : مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بِرَجُلٍ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي قَدْ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى الْيُمْنَى فَانْتَزَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by a man who was praying and had placed his left hand over his right hand. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) separated them and placed the right hand over the left.

وَعَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ قَالَ : مَا نَسِيتُ فَلَمْ أَنْسَ أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَائِمًا يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى يَدِهِ الْيُسْرَى قَابِضًا عَلَيْهَا ، يَعْنِي فِي الصَّلَاةِ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَفِيهِ : عَبَّاسُ بْنُ يُونُسَ وَلَمْ أَجِدْ مَنْ تَرْجَمَهُ ، وَقَالَ الْبَزَّارُ : وَلَمْ يَرْوِ شَدَّادُ بْنُ شُرَحْبِيلَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - إِلَّا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَفِيهِ : عَبَّاسُ بْنُ يُونُسَ وَلَمْ أَجِدْ مَنْ تَرْجَمَهُ ، وَقَالَ الْبَزَّارُ : وَلَمْ يَرْوِ شَدَّادُ بْنُ شُرَحْبِيلَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - إِلَّا هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ .
Sayyiduna Shaddad bin Shurahbil (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I have not forgotten, and I have not forgotten this, that I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) standing, having placed his right hand over his left hand and holding it. The narrator says: That is, he did so during prayer.
Al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator Abbas bin Yunus, and I have not found anyone who gives his biography. Al-Bazzar says: Shaddad bin Shurahbil narrated only this hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator Abbas bin Yunus, and I have not found anyone who gives his biography. Al-Bazzar says: Shaddad bin Shurahbil narrated only this hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " إِنَّا مَعَاشِرَ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ أُمِرْنَا بِتَعْجِيلِ فِطْرِنَا وَتَأْخِيرِ سُحُورِنَا وَأَنْ نَضَعَ أَيْمَانَنَا عَلَى شَمَائِلِنَا فِي الصَّلَاةِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed we, the community of Prophets, have been commanded to hasten our breaking of the fast, to delay our pre-dawn meal (suhur), and to place our right hands over our left hands during prayer." Al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are the narrators of the "Sahih".
وَعَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ مُرَّةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " ثَلَاثَةٌ يُحِبُّهَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : تَعْجِيلُ الْإِفْطَارِ وَتَأْخِيرُ السُّحُورِ وَضَرْبُ الْيَدَيْنِ إِحْدَاهُمَا بِالْأُخْرَى فِي الصَّلَاةِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ : عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَعْلَى ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Ya'la bin Murrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are three things that Allah Almighty loves: hastening the breaking of the fast, delaying the pre-dawn meal (suhur), and placing the two hands one upon the other during prayer (that is, placing the right hand over the left hand)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator Umar bin Abdullah bin Ya'la, and he is "da'if" (weak).

وَعَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ ، رَفَعَهُ قَالَ : " ثَلَاثٌ مِنْ أَخْلَاقِ النُّبُوَّةِ : تَعْجِيلُ الْإِفْطَارِ وَتَأْخِيرُ السُّحُورِ وَوَضْعُ الْيَمِينِ عَلَى الشِّمَالِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ " .

قُلْتُ : وَيَأْتِي شَيْءٌ مِنْ نَوْعِ هَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثِ فِي الصِّيَامِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .

قُلْتُ : وَيَأْتِي شَيْءٌ مِنْ نَوْعِ هَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثِ فِي الصِّيَامِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .
Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) relates this as a "marfu'" hadith: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Three things are among the character traits of prophethood: hastening the breaking of the fast, delaying the pre-dawn meal (suhur), and placing the right hand over the left during prayer."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir both as a "marfu'" hadith and as a "mawquf" report from Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him). The "mawquf" version is authentic; among the narrators of the "marfu'" version is someone whose biography I have not found anyone giving. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Other hadiths of this kind will come later in the chapter on fasting, if Allah wills.

وَعَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ جَابِرٍ الْبَيَاضِيَّ صَاحِبَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَضَعُ إِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ عَلَى ذِرَاعَيْهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .

Uqbah bin Abi A'ishah narrates: I saw Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Jabir al-Bayadi (may Allah be pleased with him), a Companion of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), placing one hand over the other forearm during prayer.
