Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 2613

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: One day, after entering into prayer, a man recited: "All praise belongs to Allah Almighty, (praise) that fills the heaven." He also said words glorifying Allah (subhan Allah) in the same way, and made supplication. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who is the one who said these words?" The man said: "O Messenger of Allah! It was I." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I saw the angels taking it and meeting one another with it (or: handing these words to one another)."
Ahmad and al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator Ata' bin al-Sa'ib; he is "thiqah" (trustworthy) but suffered from confusion (ikhtilat) in his memory. However, Hammad bin Salamah narrated it from Ata', and Hammad heard from him before his confusion set in. Abu Dawud stated this, in what Abu Ubayd al-Ajurri narrated from him.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir via Hammad bin Salamah, from Ya'la bin Ata', from his father, from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and its chain is jayyid (good). Ya'la bin Ata' al-Amiri and his father are both "thiqah" (trustworthy).
