Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla narrates from his father this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "A person is not a believer until I become more beloved to him than his own self, my family more beloved to him than his own family, my kindred ('itrah) more beloved to him than his own offspring, and my person more beloved to him than his own person."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla, who has a poor memory and is not taken as evidence.

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No one is a believer until I become more beloved to him than his children, his parents and all people."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Qays bin al-Rabi', whom Shu'bah and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), while Yahya bin Ma'in and others declared him da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna al-Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I came to some people who were talking among themselves; when they saw me, they fell silent. That happened only because they found me a burden." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Have they really done that? By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, none of them can be a believer until he loves you (all) for the sake of his love for me." (Then the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, addressed the people and said:) "Do you hope to enter Paradise through my intercession, while the Banu Abd al-Muttalib are not to hope for it?"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Saghir; its chain contains a narrator, Asram bin Hawshab, who is matruk al-hadith (abandoned in hadith).

Sayyiduna al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever loves Allah and His Messenger truthfully, without being false, and when he meets the believers he loves them too, and the matter of the Jahiliyyah (the Age of Ignorance) is to him like being thrown into fire, has tasted the taste of faith."
The narrator is in doubt; perhaps the words are: "he reaches the summit of faith". This doubt is from a narrator named Safwan.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Shurayh bin Ubayd, who is thiqah (trustworthy) and a mudallis, and because of his tadlis there is disagreement about his having heard from the Companions.
