Sayyiduna Malik bin Ahmar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when he received news of the arrival of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as a delegation. He requested the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to have a document written for him through which he could call to Islam. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had this written for him on a piece of leather: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This document is from Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the Messenger of Allah, to Malik bin Ahmar and to the Muslims who follow him. It is a guarantee of safety for them, as long as they establish the prayer, give zakah, follow the Muslims, keep away from the polytheists, and pay the one-fifth (khumus) of the spoils, the share of the debtors, and such-and-such share and such-and-such share. Then these people will be safe under the guarantee of safety from Allah Almighty and the guarantee of safety from Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the Messenger of Allah."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Sa'id bin Mansur al-Judhami, whose biography I have not been able to find.

Abu Shaddad, who was from "Dhimar," one of the villages of Oman, narrates: A letter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed to the people of Oman came to us. (In it was written:) "Peace. To proceed: Affirm the testimony that there is no god besides Allah Almighty and that I am the Messenger of Allah, and pay zakah! Otherwise I will wage war against you."
Sayyiduna Abu Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I could not find anyone who could read the letter to us, until at last we found a black boy, and he read the letter to us. The narrator says: I asked Sayyiduna Abu Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him): "Who was the ruler of the people of Oman at that time?" He replied: "A governor appointed by Chosroes, whose name was Subayhiban."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Regarding its chain, I have not seen anyone who has mentioned these narrators, except that al-Tabarani said: Musa bin Isma'il is alone in narrating it. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: This narrator is not al-Tabudhaki, because this one narrates from the Tabi'un. And Allah knows best.

Sayyiduna Amr bin al-Hamiq (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was about to send out a military expedition, and those people said: "O Messenger of Allah! You are sending us out, but we have neither provisions for the journey nor food, nor do we know the way." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will pass by a man with a handsome face; he will provide you with food, give you drink and guide you on the way, and that man will be among the people of Paradise." Sayyiduna Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When those people camped with me, they began pointing to one another and looking at me. I said: "Why are you looking at me and making signs to one another?" They said: "Accept glad tidings from Allah and His Messenger! For we see in you the description that the Messenger of Allah gave." Then they told me about the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). So I provided them with food and drink, gave them provisions for the journey and went out with them until I had guided them on the way. Then I returned to my family, gave them instructions about my camels, and then set out for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). (After presenting myself before him (peace and blessings be upon him),) I asked: "What is it that you call to?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I call to bearing witness that there is no god besides Allah Almighty and that I am the Messenger of Allah, and (I also call) to establishing the prayer, paying zakah, performing Hajj to the House (of Allah) and fasting in Ramadan." I asked: "If we accept this call, will we be safe with regard to our families, our wealth and our lives?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes!" So I accepted Islam. Then I went back to my people and told them about my acceptance of Islam, and many of them accepted Islam at my hands.
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: After this the narrator mentioned the entire hadith, and this complete report will come in the chapter on virtues (al-Manaqib).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Sakhr bin al-Harith, who narrated this report from his uncle, but I have not seen anyone who has mentioned either of them.

Sayyiduna Umayr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A letter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us (in which was written:) "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This letter is from Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the Messenger of Allah, to Umayr Dhu Marran and to every individual from Hamdan who has accepted Islam. Peace be upon you! I praise before you Allah, besides whom there is no god. To proceed: News of your acceptance of Islam reached us upon our return from the land of the Romans, so accept these glad tidings: Allah Almighty has granted you His guidance. When you bear witness that there is no god besides Allah Almighty and that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah, and you establish the prayer and pay zakah, then with regard to your lives, your wealth and your land belonging to the Romans upon which you accepted Islam, its cultivated and uncultivated parts and its pastures, all of it, you have come under the protection of Allah and His Messenger. You will not be wronged, nor will you be subjected to hardship. Charity (sadaqah) is not lawful for Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) or for his household. Indeed, Malik bin Murarah al-Rahawi guarded what was hidden and discharged the trust (that is, he delivered the message). So, O Dhu Marran! I command you to treat him well, for he is an important person among his people. Your Lord will love you."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir by way of Umayr bin Dhi Marran, from his father, from his grandfather, and I have not seen anyone who has mentioned these men with either a declaration of trustworthiness or a criticism.

Abu Nu'aym narrates: Abd al-Malik bin Ata al-Amiri took out a letter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and showed it to us, and said: "Write it down!" He did not dictate its text to us. He stated that his son al-Fujay' had narrated it to him. (In this letter was written:) "This is a letter from Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the Messenger of Allah, to al-Fujay' and his companions. Whoever accepts Islam, establishes the prayer, pays zakah, obeys Allah and His Messenger, gives Allah's one-fifth from the spoils, helps the Prophet of Allah, calls witnesses to his Islam and dissociates himself from the polytheists, will be counted safe under the guarantee of safety of Allah Almighty and Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its chain is munqati' (broken).

Sayyiduna Umarah bin Ahmar al-Mazini (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the Days of Ignorance I was grazing my camels when the horsemen of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) attacked us. I gathered my camels and mounted a camel, but it stopped to urinate. I got down from it and mounted a she-camel, and because of that I escaped. They drove away my camels. I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and accepted Islam, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned my camels to me, which those people had not yet divided. Jawwab bin Umarah, the son of Sayyiduna Umarah (may Allah be pleased with him), narrates: My brother and I saw the she-camel on which Sayyiduna Umarah (may Allah be pleased with him) had ridden to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Qutaylah bint Jumay', who narrated this report from Yazid bin Sayf, from his father. I have not seen the biography of any of them (in any book). (That is, they are unknown narrators.)
