بَابٌ فِيمَنْ شَهِدَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ .

وَعَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَنَّهُ جَاءَ بِأَمَةٍ سَوْدَاءَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ عَلَيَّ رَقَبَةً مُؤْمِنَةً ، فَإِنْ كُنْتَ تَرَى هَذِهِ مُؤْمِنَةً فَأُعْتِقُهَا ، فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " أَتَشْهَدِينَ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ؟ " . قَالَتْ : نَعَمْ . قَالَ : " أَتَشْهَدِينَ أَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ؟ " . قَالَتْ : نَعَمْ . قَالَ : أَتُؤَمِنِينَ بِالْبَعْثِ بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ ؟ " . قَالَتْ : نَعَمْ . قَالَ : " أَعْتِقْهَا " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

It is reported about a man of the Ansar that he brought a black slave woman and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I am obliged to free a believing slave. If you consider this slave woman a believer, I will free her." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the slave woman: "Do you testify that there is no god but Allah?" She replied: "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do you testify that I am the Messenger of Allah?" She replied: "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do you believe in being raised to life again after death?" She said: "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said (to the Ansari man): "Free her!"

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ - : أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَى النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بِجَارِيَةٍ سَوْدَاءَ أَعْجَمِيَّةٍ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ عَلَيَّ [ عِتْقَ ] رَقَبَةٍ مُؤْمِنَةٍ ، فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " أَيْنَ اللَّهُ ؟ " فَأَشَارَتْ بِرَأْسِهَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ بِأُصْبُعِهَا السَّبَّابَةِ ، فَقَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَنْ أَنَا ؟ " فَأَشَارَتْ بِأُصْبُعِهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ ; أَيْ أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ . قَالَ : " أَعْتِقْهَا " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالْبَزَّارُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَهَا : " مَنْ رَبُّكِ ؟ " فَأَشَارَتْ بِرَأْسِهَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ، فَقَالَتْ : اللَّهُ .
وَرِجَالُهُ مُوَثَّقُونَ .
قُلْتُ : وَتَأْتِي أَحَادِيثُ مِنَ الطَّبَرَانِيِّ فِي هَذَا الْبَابِ فِي كِتَابِ الْعِتْقِ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالْبَزَّارُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَهَا : " مَنْ رَبُّكِ ؟ " فَأَشَارَتْ بِرَأْسِهَا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ ، فَقَالَتْ : اللَّهُ .
وَرِجَالُهُ مُوَثَّقُونَ .
قُلْتُ : وَتَأْتِي أَحَادِيثُ مِنَ الطَّبَرَانِيِّ فِي هَذَا الْبَابِ فِي كِتَابِ الْعِتْقِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a black, non-Arab slave woman and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I am obliged to free a believing slave." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the slave woman: "Where is Allah?" She pointed towards the sky with her index finger and her head. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked her: "Who am I?" She pointed with her finger towards the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and towards the sky, meaning: "You are the Messenger of Allah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said (to the man): "Free her!"
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Bazzar, and Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, recorded it, but he recorded these words: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked her: 'Who is your Lord?' She pointed towards the sky with her head and said: 'Allah.'"
The narrators of this narration have been declared trustworthy. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The hadiths recorded by al-Tabarani on this topic will come in the Book of Freeing Slaves.
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Bazzar, and Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, recorded it, but he recorded these words: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked her: 'Who is your Lord?' She pointed towards the sky with her head and said: 'Allah.'"

وَعَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ قَالَ : أَنْشَدَ حَسَّانُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَبْيَاتًا ، فَقَالَ :
شَهِدْتُ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ الَّذِي فَوْقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ مِنْ عَلُ وَأَنَّ أَبَا يَحْيَى وَيَحْيَى كِلَاهُمَا
لَهُ عَمَلٌ فِي دِينِهِ مُتَقَبَّلُ وَأَنَّ أَخَا الْأَحْقَافِ إِذْ قَامَ فِيهِمُ
يَقُـومُ بِذَاتِ اللَّهِ فِيـهِمْ وَيَعْدِلُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " وَأَنَا " .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى وَهُوَ مُرْسَلٌ .
شَهِدْتُ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ الَّذِي فَوْقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ مِنْ عَلُ وَأَنَّ أَبَا يَحْيَى وَيَحْيَى كِلَاهُمَا
لَهُ عَمَلٌ فِي دِينِهِ مُتَقَبَّلُ وَأَنَّ أَخَا الْأَحْقَافِ إِذْ قَامَ فِيهِمُ
يَقُـومُ بِذَاتِ اللَّهِ فِيـهِمْ وَيَعْدِلُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " وَأَنَا " .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى وَهُوَ مُرْسَلٌ .
Habib bin Abi Thabit narrated: Sayyiduna Hassan bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) recited these verses to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "By the leave of Allah Almighty, I testify that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of the One who is above all the heavens; and I also testify that Yahya and the father of Yahya (perhaps Sayyiduna Yahya (peace be upon him) and Sayyiduna Zakariyya (peace be upon him) are meant here), the deeds of both of them in their religion are accepted; and that the man from al-Ahqaf (that is, the prophet who was sent to those people), when he stood among them, stood among them for the sake of Allah Almighty and kept to justice." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And I too" (that is, I too testify to this).
