Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the fifth year of the Hijrah. In the year of the Battle of the Confederates (al-Ahzab), we set out together with Quraysh. I was with my brother Sayyiduna al-Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him), and our slave Abu Rafi' was with us. When we reached the place called "al-Arj", our mount went astray on the way. We travelled that route by way of al-Jathjathah until we emerged at the quarter of Banu Amr bin Awf, then we entered Madinah. We found the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the trench. At that time I was eight years old, and my brother (Sayyiduna al-Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him)) was thirteen years old.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat by way of Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Umarah al-Ansari from Sulayman bin Dawud bin al-Husayn. Neither of the two has been declared trustworthy, nor have they been declared weak. The remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
