Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with him) was the last of those remaining who emigrated. His eyesight had become weak. When he resolved to emigrate, his wife, who was the daughter of Harb bin Umayyah, disliked this, and she advised him to emigrate somewhere else. So he set out to emigrate with his family and his wealth, concealing himself from Quraysh, until he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in Madinah. Abu Sufyan bin Harb sold his house in Makkah. After that, Abu Jahl bin Hisham, Utbah bin Rabi'ah, Shaybah bin Rabi'ah, Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib and Huwaytib bin Abd al-Uzza passed by that house, and some hides were lying there. Utbah's eyes filled with tears, and commenting on the situation he recited this verse: "Every house, however long it remains safe, one day ruin and desolation will overtake it." The narrator says: Abu Jahl turned to Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "You people have brought this situation upon us." When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Makkah on the day of the conquest, Abu Ahmad stood up and spoke about his house. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave an order to Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him); he got up, went over to Abu Ahmad and stopped him from it, and Abu Ahmad fell silent about his house. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the day of the conquest of Makkah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was leaning on his hand, and Abu Ahmad was reciting this verse: "How excellent is the valley of Makkah! Here I walk without a guide; here my visitors are many; here my tent pegs are planted."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Shabib, who is da'if (weak).
