Ibn Shihab has stated the names of those who took part in the Pledge of al-Aqabah: From the Banu al-Najjar branch of the Ansar: Sayyiduna Aws bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Aws bin Yazid bin Asram (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Abu Umamah As'ad bin Zurarah (may Allah be pleased with him). From the Banu Salimah branch of the Ansar: Sayyiduna al-Bara bin Ma'rur (may Allah be pleased with him), who was the first person to make a bequest of a third of his wealth, and who prayed facing the Ka'bah while living in his own land; he was also a naqib (leader). From those belonging to Banu al-Harith bin al-Khazraj: Sayyiduna Bashir bin Sa'd bin al-Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him). From the Ansar: Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Jabbar bin Sakhr (may Allah be pleased with him). From the Banu Zurayq branch of the Ansar: Sayyiduna al-Harith bin Qays bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who had the honor of taking part in the Battle of Badr, Sayyiduna Dhakwan bin Abd al-Qays bin Khaldah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who also had the honor of taking part in the Battle of Badr. From the Banu al-Hubli branch of the Ansar: Sayyiduna Rifa'ah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him). From the Banu Sa'idah bin Ka'b branch of the Ansar: Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was a naqib. From the Banu Amr bin Awf branch of the Ansar: Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Khaythamah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was a naqib. From the Banu Abd al-Ashhal branch of the Ansar: Sayyiduna Salamah bin Salamah bin Waqsh (may Allah be pleased with him). From the Banu Salimah branch of the Ansar: Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). From the Banu Harithah bin al-Harith branch of the Ansar: Sayyiduna Zuhayr bin Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him). From the Banu Harithah branch of the Ansar: Sayyiduna Abu Burdah bin Niyar (may Allah be pleased with him). The chain of this narration up to Ibn Shihab is a single one, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy). Al-Tabarani recorded all of these narrations.
