Abu Nasr narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked: "How did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) examine the women?" He said: When a woman came to him to accept Islam, he would make her swear by Allah that she had not come out because of anger with her husband; he would make her swear by Allah that she had not come out to obtain worldly gain; he would make her swear by Allah that she had not come out merely to move from one land to another; and he would make her swear by Allah that she had come out only for the love of Allah Almighty and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Qays bin al-Rabi', whom Shu'bah and al-Thawri declared thiqah (trustworthy), while others declared him da'if (weak).
