Imam Muhammad bin Ali bin al-Husayn (that is, Imam al-Baqir) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the pledge of allegiance from Sayyiduna al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) when they were young, when they had not yet reached puberty. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the pledge only from the young ones of our family.
Al-Tabarani recorded it,
This narration is mursal, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy). A similar narration is mentioned in the biography of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) and with reference to others.
