Abd al-Hamid bin Ja'far narrates from his father: The husband of Umm Samurah passed away, leaving behind her son Samurah. She was a beautiful woman. She came to Madinah and received proposals of marriage, and she began to say: "I will marry only a man who will take responsibility for the expenses of my son Samurah until he reaches maturity." So a man from the Ansar married her on that condition, and she lived with him in the quarter of the Ansar. Every year the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to review the boys of the Ansar, and whoever among them had reached maturity, he would send on a military expedition. Once, while he was reviewing the boys, a boy passed before him and he sent him on the military expedition. After him Samurah was presented to him, and he turned him back. Samurah said: "O Messenger of Allah, you have permitted that boy and turned me back; if you were to have me wrestle him, I would throw him down." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Very well, throw him down and show me!" So I wrestled that boy and threw him down, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted me to go on the military expedition.
Al-Tabarani recorded it as a "mursal" report, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
