وَعَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مِرْدَاسٍ قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ الشَّامَ فَإِذَا رَجُلٌ غَلِيظُ الشَّفَتَيْنِ - أَوْ قَالَ : ضَخْمُ الشَّفَتَيْنِ - وَالْأَنْفِ ، وَإِذَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ سِلَاحٌ فَسَأَلُوهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ خُذُوا مِنْ هَذَا السِّلَاحِ وَاسْتَصْلِحُوهُ وَجَاهِدُوا بِهِ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ " قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . [ قُلْتُ : مَنْ هَذَا ؟ قَالُوا : بِلَالٌ ] .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ هَكَذَا ، وَفِي إِسْنَادِهِ أَبُو الْوَرْدِ بْنُ ثُمَامَةَ وَهُوَ مَسْتُورٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ هَكَذَا ، وَفِي إِسْنَادِهِ أَبُو الْوَرْدِ بْنُ ثُمَامَةَ وَهُوَ مَسْتُورٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Amr bin Mirdas narrates: I came to Syria, and there was a man there with thick lips (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are: whose lips and nose were large). Weapons were lying in front of him, people were asking him (about them), and he was saying: "O people, take these weapons, put them in good order, and take part in jihad with them in the path of Allah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this." (The narrator says:) I asked: Who is this man? The people said: This is Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him).
Ahmad recorded it in this way; its chain contains Abu al-Ward bin Thumamah, who is mastur (of unknown condition), and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
