Sayyiduna Khabbab bin al-Aratt (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Horses are of three kinds: a horse for the Most Merciful, a horse for man, and a horse for Satan. As for the horse of the Most Merciful, it is the one kept in the way of Allah, upon which the enemies of Allah are fought. As for the horse of man, it is the one used for riding and on which loads are carried. As for the horse of Satan, it is the one on which wagers are made and gambling is done."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Maslamah bin Ali, who is da'if (weak).
