Khalid bin Hakim bin Hizam narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Ubaydah (may Allah be pleased with him) spoke harshly to a man, and Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) objected to it. It was said: "You have angered the Amir?" So he went to him and said: "I did not intend to anger you, but I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: 'On the Day of Resurrection, the most severely punished of people will be those who most severely punished people in the world.'"
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it. Al-Tabarani's wording is: "It was said to him: 'You have angered the Amir?'" and he added: "Go and let them go free!" Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih except Khalid bin Hakim, and he is thiqah (trustworthy). A hadith about sincere counsel to the rulers has already been mentioned.
