Imam al-Sha'bi narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) saw a man whose appearance pleased him. He asked: "Whom is this man from?" He said: "He is one of those upon whom Allah Almighty has bestowed favour." Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "All of us are among those upon whom Allah Almighty has bestowed favour. Whom are you from?" He replied: "From the people of the earth." Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "All of us are from the people of the earth. Whom are you from?" He said: "From the Nabataeans" (a people who lived between Iraq and Jordan). Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Get away from me! For I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: 'These are the killers of the Prophets and the helpers of the oppressors. When they acquire estates and raise up buildings, then flee (from them), flee!'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Abd al-Rahman bin Mighwal, who is matruk (abandoned).
