وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَا مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَحَدٌ وَلِيَ مِنْ أَمْرِ النَّاسِ شَيْئًا ، لَمْ يَحْفَظْهُمْ بِمَا حَفِظَ بِهِ نَفْسَهُ وَأَهْلَهُ إِلَّا لَمْ يَجِدْ رَائِحَةَ الْجَنَّةِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ شَيْبَةَ الطَّائِفِيُّ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any member of my Ummah who takes charge of any affair (of the people) and does not protect those people as he protects himself and his household, such a person will not find the fragrance of Paradise."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Isma'il bin Shaybah al-Ta'ifi, who is da'if (weak).
