Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 9051

Sayyiduna al-Miqdam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever is placed in charge of people will come on the Day of Resurrection walking ahead of them, carrying a banner, with the people following behind him. That person will be asked about those people, and the people will be asked about him."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Muhammad bin Isma'il bin Ayyash, who is da'if (weak).
