Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 9049

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is in charge of any subjects will be called to account on the Day of Resurrection as to whether he upheld the command of Allah concerning those subjects or neglected it."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Abu Ayyash al-Misri, who is mastur (of unknown standing); the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), though some of them have been criticised.
