وَعَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ الثُّمَالِيِّ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " الْأَمْرُ الْمُفْظِعُ ، وَالْحِمْلُ الْمُضْلِعُ ، وَالشَّرُّ الَّذِي لَا يَنْقَطِعُ - إِظْهَارُ الْبِدَعِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna al-Hakam bin Umayr al-Thumali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The matter that distresses, the burden that breaks the back, and the evil that never ends is the open display of innovations."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Baqiyyah bin al-Walid, who is da'if (weak).
