Book of the Caliphate
بَابُ الْخِلَافَةِ فِي قُرَيْشٍ وَالنَّاسُ تَبَعٌ لَهُمْ .

Majma al-Zawaid 8979 — The caliphate is in Quraysh and people follow
وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ لِي عَلَى قُرَيْشٍ حَقًّا وَإِنَّ لِقُرَيْشٍ عَلَيْكُمْ حَقًّا ، مَا حَكَمُوا فَعَدَلُوا ، وَائْتُمِنُوا فَأَدَّوْا ، وَاسْتُرْحِمُوا فَرَحِمُوا " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have a right over Quraysh, and Quraysh have a right over you, as long as they act with justice when they judge, fulfil the trust when they are entrusted, and show mercy when mercy is sought from them."
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih.
