وَعَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَا تَحْتَ ظِلِّ السَّمَاءِ مِنْ إِلَهٍ يُعْبَدُ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ - أَعْظَمُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ هَوًى مُتَّبَعٍ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكُ الْحَدِيثِ .

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Of all the deities worshipped besides Allah Almighty beneath the shade of the sky, none (of the false deities) is greater (that is, more hateful) in the sight of Allah Almighty than a desire that is followed."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains al-Hasan bin Dinar, who is matruk al-hadith (abandoned in hadith).
