وَعَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْوَلِيدِ أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ بِالشَّامِ تَلْبَسُ الثِّيَابَ مِنْ ثِيَابِ الْخَزِّ ثُمَّ تَأْتَزِرُ فَقِيلَ لَهَا : أَمَا يُغْنِيكَ هَذَا عَنِ الْإِزَارِ ؟ فَقَالَتْ : إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَأْمُرُ بِالْإِزَارِ .

It is reported about Sayyidah Fatimah bint al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with her) that when she was in Syria, she used to wear clothes of khazz (that is, silk, or cloth woven of silk and wool) and would also tie a lower wrap (izar). It was said to her: "Does this garment not make the lower wrap unnecessary for you?" She said: "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) command the tying of the lower wrap."
