Majma al-Zawaid 849 — Analogy and blind following

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Every year that comes, the one after it will be worse than it. No year is better than another year, and no nation is better than another nation; rather, your scholars and your best people will depart, and then people will come who judge matters by analogy based on their own opinion, and they will demolish and ruin Islam.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Mujalid bin Sa'id, who suffered from confusion (ikhtilat).
