Sayyiduna Iyad bin Ghanm (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever drinks wine, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days; if he dies, he will go to Hell. If he repents, Allah Almighty will accept his repentance. If he drinks it a second time, his prayer will not be accepted for forty days; if he dies, he will go to Hell. If he repents, Allah Almighty will accept his repentance. If he drinks it a third time (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) a fourth time, it is binding upon Allah Almighty that He make him drink from Radghat al-Khabal. It was asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is meant by Radghat al-Khabal? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The extract of the people of Hell (that is, blood, pus and the like)."
Abu Ya'la and al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, al-Muthanna bin al-Sabbah, and he is matruk (abandoned). Abu Mihsan Hasin bin Numayr declared him thiqah (trustworthy), but the majority have declared him da'if (weak).
