Attab bin Amir said: I was with Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) in the Hatim at Makkah when he was asked about wine. He said: A man asked me about it, and I said: "Here is the Messenger of Allah; go to him and ask him, then come back to me and tell me." That man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then he came back to me and told me that he had asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is the greatest of the major sins and the root of all evils. Whoever drinks wine will abandon his prayer, and he may have intercourse with his mother, or his maternal aunt, or his paternal aunt."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. I do not know the narrator Attab; the hadith of the narrator Ibn Lahi'ah is hasan (good), and there is weakness in him.
