Abu al-Mada' narrates: Marwan bin al-Hakam asked Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him): "How do you eat?" He replied: "Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) told me this from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'When one of you eats food, let him not wipe his hand until he licks his fingers, for he does not know in which part of his food blessing has been placed for him.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Abu al-Mada' and his son Jamil, I do not know either of them. The narrations of the remaining narrators are hasan (good) or sahih (authentic). Al-Tabarani also recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Umarah al-Ansari. Al-Dhahabi says: He is mastur (of unknown condition). The remaining narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
