Jubayr bin al-Muthanna narrates the account of his father: Abd al-Malik bin Marwan sent a message to Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him: "How do you eat and how do you drink?" He said: "I keep drinking until my breath runs short, then I remove the vessel from my mouth; and when I eat, I lick my fingers, for I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'When one of you eats something, let him lick his fingers, for he does not know in which part of the food the blessing lies.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it. I do not know Jubayr or his father. The narrations of the remaining narrators are hasan (good).
