Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever learns the Qur'an and stays occupied with it night and day, treating as lawful what it makes lawful and treating as unlawful what it makes unlawful, Allah Almighty makes his flesh and his blood forbidden to the Fire, and makes the noble, righteous (angels) his companions, until, when the Day of Resurrection comes, the Qur'an will be a proof in his favour."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir; its chain contains Khulayd bin Da'laj, whom Imam Ahmad, Yahya and al-Nasa'i declared da'if (weak). Abu Hatim said: He is salih (acceptable) but not solid. Ibn Adi said: Other narrators have corroborated him in the hadiths he narrates.
