وَعَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَغَيُورٌ ، وَاللَّهُ أَغْيَرُ مِنِّي ، وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْغَيُورَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I am protectively jealous (ghayur), and Allah Almighty is more protectively jealous than me; and indeed, Allah Almighty loves those of His servants who are protectively jealous."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin al-Fadl bin Atiyyah, who is matruk (abandoned).
