Sayyidah Asma' bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the women in a corner of the mosque, and I was among those women. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the women's voices and said: O company of women! You are the greater part of the fuel of Hell. I called out to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a loud voice, for I used to be bold in speaking with him, and I said: O Messenger of Allah! Why is that? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When you are given something, you are not grateful; when you are put to trial, you are not patient; and when something is withheld from you, you complain. So beware of ingratitude towards those who bestow favours. I said: What is meant by ingratitude towards those who bestow favours? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A woman is with a man (that is, she is someone's wife) and has even borne him two or three children, yet she still says: I have never seen any good from you.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Shahr bin Hawshab, and he is da'if (weak), although he has also been declared trustworthy. The rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
