Za'idah bin Umayr al-Ta'i narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): What is your view on 'azl? He said: If the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said something about it, then it is as he said; otherwise, my own view about it is that (Allah Almighty says:) "Your wives are a tilth for you, so come to your tilth however you wish." So whoever wishes may practise 'azl, and whoever wishes may leave it.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih except Za'idah bin Umayr, who is thiqah (trustworthy).
