Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: A slave was jointly owned by two men of the tribe of Juhaynah. One of the two freed him. That man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made him liable for it. That man had some goats, close to one hundred; he sold them and gave his companion his price.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration; its chain contains a narrator, al-Hasan bin Umarah, who is da'if (weak).
