Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) counselled me with seven things: "Do not associate anything with Allah, even if you are cut to pieces or burned. Do not deliberately abandon a prayer, for whoever abandons it, the protection is removed from him. Do not drink wine, for it is the key to every evil. Obey your parents, even if they both order you to leave your world; then leave it. Do not dispute authority with those entitled to it; you are who you are. Never flee from the battlefield, even if you perish. Show hospitality to your companions, spend on your family according to your means, do not lift the stick from them, and keep making them fear Allah Almighty." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Ibn Majah recorded this part of it: "Do not drink wine, for it is the key to every evil." Shaykh Jamal al-Din al-Mizzi put the sign of "Ibn Majah" on it; perhaps in this he followed Ibn Asakir, and Allah knows best.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Shahr bin Hawshab, whose narrations are hasan (good), and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
